Grow Me The Money has come a long way in 2006 and this could not have happened without our partners, supporters and participants of the program. We look forward to continuing our work with you next year as we continue to help businesses throughout the state improve their financial performance and reduce their environmental impact.

This year saw us develop the foundations of the program, providing the platform for the major developments we have planned for 2007. Now with a strong knowledge base and keen interest and support from the business and environment communities the next 12 months promise to be an exciting, innovative and successful time for Victorian business.

If you’re not currently within a pilot region, don’t despair. We are thinking of you too. You are welcome to register with the program and start using some of the resources on the website to become more environmentally friendly.

What's going on

Grow Me The Money HQ

Grow Me The Money Headquarters “HQ” (www.growmethemoney.com.au) is now live and active! Although there are several sections still in development there is plenty of information and resources available for businesses to start to improve their financial and environmental performance. Market research has begun with businesses in our pilot regions which will look at the functionality, design and content of the HQ. All of this research will feed into the revised and fully functioning website to be launched in March next year.

Melbourne CBD

The RR&R Challenge (reduce, reuse and recycle) has been run and won, culminating in the inaugural prize winning bonanza at Hard Rock Café on Tuesday 5 December. Over 100 people were on hand to enjoy the hospitality, soak up the festive atmosphere and find out who the winners and grinners of the challenge were.

The “Enviro-Mentals” at AFPN took home the grand prize for the flair they displayed for reducing, reusing AND recycling across water, energy, paper and waste in their office. They implemented a comprehensive environmental strategy throughout their business and were worthy recipients of the crowning glory.

Goulburn Valley

The first group of enthusiastic Shepparton based businesses have been recruited to join the Grow Me The Money program and will start the new year by undertaking a resource efficiency audit, looking at their energy and water consumption and waste production, and developing their own environmental action plans to improve the performance of their business. Hyder Consulting have joined the Goulburn Valley team and will work with the local businesses to assist them in the first steps towards improved efficiencies. Grow Me The Money has recruited a broad range of businesses to the program, ranging from the local IGA supermarket to the private hospital.

Western Metro Region

Grow Me The Money is working with City West Water to identify a list of local businesses to recruit into the program. Early in the new year these customers will receive an individualised letter from the CEO of VECCI and of City West Water inviting their participation in the development of the local program. Those businesses who respond positively will form the target group which will be visited by Grow Me The Money staff. The information gathered from those visits will help identify the best and most effective offering that Grow Me The Money can provide. This product and service development will then form the basis for the greater western region development.

In addition the WMR working group has identified several areas of importance to local business that Grow Me The Money can also work on in the medium to long-term, these include a waste exchange program (building on the waste exchange database), exploring the option of a collective purchasing arrangement for green power for local SMEs and an expo to be hosted by Victoria University.
