Congratulations - Jasper Hotel!

Inaugural Winner of the HMAA Excellence in Sustainability Award 2007
The accommodation industry's business Excellence Awards were run for the 10th year in August, featuring a new award recognizing excellence in sustainable practices; Excellence in Sustainability. Although a new award, there was a large range of strong submissions vying for the sought after award.

Excellence in Sustainability required each property to review practices put into place through the financial year, the impact of the practices and efforts made by the property to educate their staff, guests and the broader community.

The inaugural winner was the Jasper Hotel (formally Hotel Y). Through an approach that has ensured ownership of its sustainability practices by all staff, the Jasper Hotel has become a leader in waste reduction, educative programmes and commitment to improving our environment.

Andrea Cavalchini from the Jasper Hotel received the Award for Excellence in Sustainability from Kate Nicolazzo, Program Director for Grow Me The Money.
