Platinum and Gold Club members shine at VIP lunch

This month, I’m very pleased to announce our newest Platinum Club and Gold Club members. We congratulate:

Alto Hotel on Bourke, Melbourne City (Platinum Club), for outstanding savings in water and energy use and in waste production, through meticulous planning and the clever use of cutting-edge resource-saving technologies

McPherson’s Printing Group, Maryborough (Gold Club), for outstanding water savings

• Printgraphics, Mount Waverley (Gold Club), for smart paper savings to reduce waste

• Waterholes Guest House (Gold Club), East Gippsland, for leadership in the use of solar energy.

Grow Me The Money Platinum and Gold Club Participants and VIP guests gather for an intimate lunch at Grossi Florentino.

It’s certainly no easy feat to attain Platinum Club or Gold Club status, and these businesses are genuine leaders in their fields. We welcomed our new members and enjoyed lively discussions with current Platinum and Gold Club members over a relaxed lunch at Grossi Florentino on Friday 30 May, also attended by the Hon Michael Crutchfield MP (Parliamentary Secretary, Water and Environment and Member of the Legislative Assembly for South Barwon) and Ben Hart (Chief of Staff to Minister Gavin Jennings, Minister for Environment and Climate Change and Minister for Innovation).

Participants took the opportunity to put forward their views and concerns on environmental sustainability issues in their regions and industries, make new business links and meet like-minded business people. The government representatives welcomed the chance to listen in an informal and frank atmosphere.

All our Platinum Club and Gold Club members have inspiring stories to tell. I encourage you to read these by browsing the case studies on our Homepage.

As many of you may be aware, VECCI has created a new Centre for Innovation and Sustainability Excellence (CISE) to continue to build our leadership, programs, products and services in sustainability and innovation. I have been appointed to head up this new department that will include Grow Me The Money and our new initiative with Sustainability Victoria – carbonDown. As we grow, a number of new programs will be housed within CISE.

This is my last Grow Me The Money eBulletin as Program Director. It has been a pleasure to work on Grow Me The Money and to watch it mature over the past two years (and even better I get to stay involved). As of 1 June, Gemma White, who has been Program Coordinator for the past twelve months, will take over the reigns as Program Manager for Grow Me The Money - so look out for Gemma’s message in the August Grow Me The Money eBulletin!
