Gemma's message

Happy New (financial) Year! The end of the financial year means a busy time for everyone.
Despite this, Grow Me The Money have received over 50 Action Plans from Participants for the coming year as they prepare themselves to improve their business sustainability and reap the benefits in 2008-09. Congratulations to you all, especially Anna from La Madre Bakery who won our lucky draw prize of $5000 to implement her plans! All our runners-up have received a Green Rewards card that entitles them to discounts on a great range of environmentally friendly products and services which should help them get to work - sustainably.
As of the beginning of August Grow Me The Money has 496 Participants registered with the program. To welcome some of our new members, we recently held our 2nd Bronze Club lunch for the year, introducing our Bronze Club members to the program and giving them the opportunity to network with other businesses.
This month Grow Me The Money also attended the Banksia Awards 2008 as a finalist in the Eco-Innovation category. Although we did not win, it was a great achievement for our first-ever entry.
As the new Program Manager for Grow Me The Money, I look forward to the challenges ahead and the benefits for both business and the environment that we can accomplish by working together.

Climate Ready program seeks first round grant applications
Innovation Minister, Senator the Hon Kim Carr has invited applications for first-round grants under the Federal Government's Climate Ready program.
Grants ranging from $50,000 to $5 million are available to small- and medium-businesses for research and development, proof-of-concept and early-stage commercialisation activities by businesses developing new products, processes and services to tackle the effects of climate change.
"A broad range of applications are expected in areas as diverse as water recycling, waste recovery, small scale renewable energy technologies, green building materials, and other products, processes or services to monitor emissions or reduce energy use," Senator Carr said.
"Businesses can also apply for grants involving enabling technologies like nanotechnology and biotechnology that address the effects of climate change on people and the environment," he said.

Applications close 4 September.
