E-waste
|
Equipment with electrical components, such as computers, printer, cables, etc that is disposed of and ends up in landfill. In most cases electronic waste consists of electronic products that were used for data processing, telecommunications or entertainment in private households and businesses that are now considered obsolete, broken, or irreparable.
Despite their common classification as a waste, disposed electronics represent a considerable supply of secondary resources due to their significant suitability for direct reuse (for example, many fully functional computers and components are discarded during upgrades, as well as mobile phones), refurbishing, and material recycling of their constituent raw materials.
